When the Swimming Pool is not your style, go for a dip at Target

Key points:The Australian Retail Consortium says Target’s swim pools offer a range of featuresTarget’s swimming pool design is not unique to the company’s other poolsTarget’s pool design will feature a wide array of different design elements, including an underwater water feature and a new underwater featureTarget’s Swimmpools will be available from December 3, 2018 to February 20, 2019.

The Australian Consumer Council (ACCC) says Target has the right to make changes to the design of its swimming pool for the benefit of all Australians.ACCC CEO Stephen Munro said the Australian public’s interest in the safety of swimming pool users outweighed the need for a different design.

“It’s not just about safety,” he said.

“We all want to be safe, and we want our children to be happy swimming in the water.”

Mr Munro urged Target to make a “more appropriate” choice.

“Target should not be forcing children to swim in pools where there are no rules and where no rules can be enforced,” he added.

“The company needs to be doing everything possible to make its swimming pools as safe as possible.”

Mr Rennie said Target’s swimming pools were designed with the needs of Australians in mind.

“Our swimming pools are not a product that’s exclusive to Target, it’s not a brand that has a specific demographic, it doesn’t have any marketing, it just works with everyone,” he explained.

“So the fact that the design is so different from Target’s, it shouldn’t be.”

But it should be a brand-new design that is going to cater for everyone.
